Holy Lord.
I still haven’t been
able to wrap my head around how gorgeous this city is.
I thought I wouldn’t
be allured by the touristy atmosphere. I was wrong.
Last weekend I
traveled to the lovely city of Venice during Carnevale. I highly recommend it.
Venice has a
reputation of being an expensive vacation destination- but it doesn’t have to
be! I managed to spend a lovely three-day weekend in Venice only spending
around 100$ total. (It could’ve been cheaper, however it was a rather spur of
the moment decision and train tickets were pricy.
The hostel we stayed in was on the island of Lido, a bit out of the way, since it is off of the main island. However, this was a blessing in disguise because we got to use the water bus system. Not a way I would want to have to travel to work everyday, but very cool to get to use for the weekend.
We visited Venice during Carnevale, a festival during the weeks before the Catholic feast of Ash Wednesday.
